‘This Is Us’: Jack Pearson Won’t Play A Big Part In Seasons 5 And 6
If you’re a fan of Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia), you won’t like this news. According to Dan Fogelman, the show’s producer, we won’t see a lot of Jack in This Is Us Seasons 5 and 6. The Season 4 finale aired Tuesday night.
Fogelman mentioned that he wants to focus in on the Big Three. He feels that the show has featured a lot of Jack’s life, and there are still other characters who need to be featured. Of course, Jack has played an important role. But, the show is about the whole family, not just Jack.
In an interview with Good Housekeeping, Fogelman said, “I do think it’s fair to say that Jack remains at the center of the orbit, but some of the more mysterious or dramatic pulls of the series might start falling into the hands of some of our other characters in the back half of our series.”
As This Is Us viewers know, the fourth season did place a lot of emphasis on the other characters. Jack was a part of the show, of course. But, the Big Three and Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore) had their chance to shine too. Season 4 featured the Big Three and showed a lot of what they’re doing as adults. Some big life moments happened during Season 4, and Jack wasn’t there due to the timeline of it all.

Before Season 4 aired, Fogelman said, “We are starting to move towards new chapters … with The Big Three.” It sounds like that is the plan moving forward too.
This Is Us is slated for a total of six seasons
As TV Shows Ace reported, the show will air a total of six seasons. On Tuesday, March 24, Season 4 wrapped up. And, we can expect the Pearsons to return to our TVs in the fall for the fifth season. Then, in fall 2021, Season 6 should premiere. This would mean that the series ends in spring 2022. The producers seem to be sure about this, despite fans wanting more seasons.
Unfortunately, many shows are hitting pause due to the coronavirus pandemic. There’s no word on the status of This Is Us filming and how the virus might affect the show’s production. But, there’s always the chance they will have to hit pause. If this call is made, it’s in the best interest of the cast and crew. As of right now, we don’t know how long the pandemic will last, so there’s no way to know how filming could be affected.
