Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth recently revealed that they’re expecting a rainbow baby. A rainbow baby is a baby born after a loss. In summer 2019, Joy-Anna and Austin lost a baby at 20 weeks gestation. They opened up about this, saying that it was very difficult for them to handle. But, they seem to be doing well now and decided that they were ready to have another child. Currently, they have a two-year-old son Gideon.

In an Instagram post and a YouTube video, they shared all about the pregnancy. Also, they revealed that they’re having a girl. She will be born in August. So far, everything seems to be going well. The couple shared that both mom and baby are healthy. They did have a scare early on with the possibility of a molar pregnancy. But, everything is going smoothly now. The couple is grateful to have a healthy baby on the way, and they are taking precautions and getting the necessary medical care.

Fans of the family may recall that Joy-Anna and Austin’s baby they lost was a little girl, and they named her Annabell. At the time that they were finding out her gender, they also learned that she no longer had a heartbeat. So, raising a daughter is new territory for the couple.

Duggar: Austin shares how he feels about raising a daughter

The couple filmed a video for TLC, announcing their big news. In the video, Austin said, “I’m pretty nervous about raising a girl. They are going to take a little more work than the boys. I feel like Gideon—” At that point, Joy-Anna interrupted him, saying, “I don’t know about that.” Austin then said, “He’s tough and he’ll eat anything.”

Austin continued, “But I feel like a girl, we’re going to have to pamper a little bit more.” Joy-Anna seems to think that pampering their daughter will make her easier to raise, while Austin thinks the opposite.

The Duggar couple does seem thrilled to have a baby girl on the way. Joy-Anna said, “I’m just so excited to dress her up in bows and fluffy dresses. It’s going to be fun.” She also hopes that their daughter is like Austin, and she wants her to have his “patience and his work ethic.” Austin added sweetly, “If she’s just like you, she’ll be perfect, babe.”

If Austin and Joy-Anna have any concerns about raising a daughter after raising a son, it’s safe to say they can easily get help and advice. Joy-Anna is one of 19 kids and has some good experience with kids–both boys and girls. Plus, several of Joy-Anna’s sisters have daughters and can give her the pointers she needs.
