‘American Idol’ 2020: Will Laine Hardy Perform During The New Season?
American Idol returns on Sunday, February 16. Last year’s winner, Laine Hardy spent his time touring and working on a new album. Fans hope that he’ll feature in the upcoming show in one way or another: Possibly during the showcase round. Or, he could even perform in the duets or the premiere.

Laine took to his Instagram on Wednesday and shared a photo of him with Lionel Richie. Some fans wondered if he went to Oahu, Hawaii. In fact, it looks like he went to the American Idol premiere party. Laine captioned the photo with, “Ran into an old friend today 😉.” Well, fans love that he called Lionel a “friend.” After all, just a couple of years ago, Laine tried out for the show, got sent home from Hollywood and many devastated fans cried for a second chance.
Well, the second chance came last year, and Laine, after a closely run race for the crown snatched it away from front-runner Alejandro Aranda. Laine’s been busy touring, but so far not many new songs came out. TV Shows Ace reported in January, that Laine’s finding it a bit hard creating new music. But, he did promise fans something’s coming soon. And he’s been recording with Knox. Some fans hope he might debut that on the new season of American Idol.

Fans ask Laine if he’s performing in the new season of the show
Just Jared reported that the event Laine went to was, indeed, “the season 18 premiere event held at Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Wednesday night (February 12).” The blog also mentioned that Laine performed a song there. On his Instagram, many fans asked Laine about the possibility of him performing in the new season. After all, there’s scope for it in the duets. But when fans asked Laine about it, he never replied. Obviously Fox isn’t that keen on spoilers for the show.

It’s not certain that Laine takes part in the new season of American Idol. But, fans might get lucky. After all, rumors suggest the format changed slightly for the upcoming show. What do you think?
