Do Duggar Wives Excessively Gaze At Their Husbands?

The Duggar family has an intense cult-like following. Notably, the family also has a pretty sizable cult-like following of people who love to hate them as well. So, unfortunately, their every move tends to be watched under a microscope by both those who like them and those who don’t.

The Duggar clan isn’t exactly considered a normal family.

The Duggar family isn’t what one would consider normal or traditional. This is, however, part of why they were a great family for a reality TV show. Notably, this is also why people (regardless of if they love or hate them) are so obsessed with them.

Unsurprisingly, both sides of the Duggar following come up with wild and crazy theories all of the time. This is especially true when it comes to Duggar women. According to Cheat Sheet, the latest theory on Duggar wives may leave you scratching your head.

Do they overdo the loving gaze toward their husbands?

There are very strict rules within the Duggar family. Naturally, these rules bend and break a little when a Duggar child grows up, gets married, and moves away.

While no one in the TLC family has ever said it outright… Women within the family are often perceived to be less important than men. This is because their family follows a strict patriarchal structure. This structure has the head of the household as the husband who is also the provider.

The Duggar wives are expected to stay at home. They tend to the house, cook meals, clean, and take care of the children. Notably, they also seem to make quick work of having children as well.

One bizarre thing Counting On fans have noticed over the years is the intense loving gaze Duggar wives give to their husband when out in public.

Nicki Swift was one of the first to call attention to the strange behavior. She noted that during couple interviewers, the wives always have an intense loving gaze directed at their husbands. Swift went on to clarify the wives do not break their loving gaze even when speaking. When asked a question by a producer, they look at their husband instead of the camera.

What Counting On fans find most puzzling about this is that the husbands do not have the same behavior.

Many suspect this was a learned behavior from Michelle.

Michelle Duggar believes it is important to fully respect your husband. So, it makes sense that her daughters would share her belief. Mama Duggar makes a habit of intensely staring at her husband, Jim Bob any time he speaks.

For example, in 2015, Michelle Duggar offered advice to her daughter Jill just before she married Derick Dillard.

“I’ll share this advice with Jill so she knows that she’s got to be a wife first and then later, Lord willing, she’ll be a mother. Her responsibility before God and Derick needs to come first. It’s not just me and the Lord; it’s me and the Lord and my husband,” Michelle advised.

Undeniably, Jill took her mother’s advice as she exited the show after her husband was fired for certain controversial remarks he made.
