‘Welcome To Plathville’: Olivia Plath Returns From Social Media Hiatus
On December 13, Olivia Plath of TLC’s Welcome to Plathville, shared via Instagram that she’d be taking a social media break. This isn’t uncommon. Many people choose to unplug, especially around the holidays. They often want to spend more time with their family and friends without the distractions social media brings.
Well, Olivia chose to take a hiatus for a different reason. In her post, she revealed, “I’ve received so much hate on all of my platforms since our show aired, and while I know that is just part of being in this industry, I don’t need to be seeing that negativity and toxicity every day.”
At the time of her post, plenty of TLC viewers left encouraging comments for her. They mentioned how difficult it must be to be criticized like Olivia often is. They were also proud of her for staying strong knowing when to take a break.
Olivia returns to social media
After a few weeks away from Instagram, the Welcome to Plathville star returned to social media. She created a post about the new year. She also mentioned resolutions and choosing a word of the year. The pictures she posted are a couple of shots from her photography business.
In her post, she wrote, “I’ve always felt pressure to make goals and choose a word on January 1st in the years past and it left me burnt out and doubting myself. I’m taking my time this year to really focus on who I want to be in this decade, not who the last decade told me I had to be. Have you chosen a word or a goal? I need some inspiration, so share them below! ♥️ ”
In response to Olivia’s post, Welcome to Plathville fans left comments. They suggested words and phrases she could use for the year. They also left suggestions for how she could spend 2020.
That post went up a couple of days ago. Since then, Olivia has shown up on Instagram here and there. She’s posted a couple of stories, but she hasn’t shared another post on her main feed. It’s possible her hiatus led her to reconsider how much time she’s devoting to social media.

So far, Olivia hasn’t responded to any of the comments on her post. She might just read through them instead of replying because there are so many.
Will there be another season of Welcome to Plathville?
So far, another season of the TLC show has yet to be announced. The first season was short and had only six episodes. TLC sometimes uses short seasons to determine whether a show should be produced for a full-length season.
Previously, Olivia revealed that TLC only wanted to do the show if she and Ethan would be a part of it. Then, Kim and Barry, Ethan’s parents, manipulated them into doing it.
It seems that Olivia didn’t have the best experience on the show. So, even if the rest of the family agrees to it, she may not. If it’s like Season 1, TLC may not agree to film the show without Ethan and Olivia on board.

I think the parents should be the bigger people and apologize to ethan and Olivia. If you want to have a whole family then act like the adults and go and apolize….!!
Kim refuses to back down. She is an absolute controlling “blank blank” Despicable. The couple is adorable and have amazing strength… They deserve support.. Not Kim
I have noticed that when Kim speaks about their issues with Ethan and Olivia she always puts the blame on them she takes no responsibility for the turmoil they are in.
She really needs to back off she is vindictive, arrogant, and very self absorbed.
Ethan and Olivia are young adults and are married they have every right to live their lives as they choose and I admire the strength and love they have for each other.
Kim you need to face reality they do not want to live like you do you still have children at home focus on them until they decide to run away from you as well.
Interesting to read tlc wants Olivia and Ethan on or no show .. Kim of course wants the money to keep coming ..she needs to get off her high horse and try to make amends ..
I feel sorry for all her kids she and her husband have really screwed up their life’s, left them soooo unprepared for life , this is not 1922 this is 2022 , they can’t even go to college because of the lack of homeschooling they received, the show made her money hungry ,but they are all getting out of the house as soon as they can, that should make her think how she has failed them

I think you are absolutely right she is an attention getter I think she self-centered I think she thinks of herself she thinks she’s better than everybody else all of a sudden now she’s wearing shorts tight clothes and wanting to show up her body something she didn’t want her girls to do it all now she thinks Barry’s not good enough for her I think she needs to get off the gravy train the girl is pathetic Ethan and Olivia are really good young people and they deserve to live a decent life without her nosy and her nose in it sorry but it’s a fact
My ex-boss (fired) came from Cairo, Ga so in watching this reality show, I feel there must be a partially Bad crop of backward people, some that have yet to see the true light of day!! I really feel for Olivia, her eyes are opened wide but I am afraid her husband still has blinders on now and maybe baby he wants to keep keep it that way!!
