What’s New On Disney Plus This Week – ‘Proud Family’ & Much More

The first Friday of 2020 has arrived, which means new original episodes and classic shows and movies are now streaming on Disney Plus. Let’s take a look at what you can watch as of January 3rd.

Original series

The ninth episodes for several Disney + original shows have now been uploaded. Those shows include High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Encore!, The World According to Jeff Goldblum, Marvel’s Hero Project and Disney Family Sundays.

Also on tap for the originals are One Day at Disney Episode 5, Pick of the Litter Episode 3, Forky Asks a Question: What is Cheese?, and Pixar in Real LifeWall-E: Lost and Found.

Perhaps most notably, this week’s episode of High School Musical served as the penultimate of the first season. The half-hour covers the opening night of East High’s musical performance, which includes many call-backs to the original movie, including performances of “Stick to the Status Quo” and “Get’cha Head in the Game.”

Next week’s season finale will cover the second act of the musical. But don’t fret – High School Musical: The Musical: The Series has already been renewed for a second season, though the release date has not been confirmed.

New arrivals

Highlighting the new arrivals are Seasons 1 and 2 of Proud Family. This hit animated series premiered in 2001 and wrapped up with Season 3 in 2005. It remains to be seen when Proud Family Season 3 will make its arrival on the streaming platform.

New (old) movies making their debut are Holes and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Holes received a theatrical release in April 2003, while the Fantastic Four sequel burst on the scene in 2007. For those wondering, Rise of the Silver Surfer is featured on Disney Plus because of the 20th Century Fox merger.

Other Marvel shows now available include Season 2 of Marvel’s Spider-Man (2017) and both seasons of Marvel’s Super Hero Squad (2009-11).

Younger Disney Channel viewers may be excited for all four seasons of Austin & Ally returning. Ross Lynch and Laura Marano starred in the show from December 2011 through January 2016.

Fans of Pixar’s Cars will be thrilled to know that two episodes of Tales of Radiator Springs and six episodes of Mater’s Tall Tales are now available to be watched if you can’t get enough of all three films.
