‘The Voice’ Coach Gwen Stefani Can’t Marry Blake Shelton Because Of Her Faith
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton met and fell in love on the set of The Voice. The two dated for four years and are ready to make their relationship official. However, they can’t get married because of Gwen’s faith. This has made things difficult since they’re ready to take the next step. A source close to Blake revealed that he “was very serious right from the start.”
Since Gwen is Roman Catholic, she can’t get married until she annuls her first marriage to Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. The No Doubt singer and the rock star were married for 13 years until their divorce in 2016. The singer wants to get married again in the Catholic church as she did in her previous marriage. Unfortunately, it’s not possible until she gets her marriage annulled.
‘The Voice’ star can’t get married due to her faith
According to People’s report, Gwen cannot marry her country singer boyfriend until she receives an annulment from the Catholic Church for her previous marriage. An alleged insider told the magazine that she “hopes to have a church ceremony with the country star,” but that it “isn’t possible currently.” The report also stated that “Gwen and Blake met with her priest for a counseling session.”
The singer is a devout Catholic who’s very serious about her faith. Blake has been so supportive and understanding that he’s willing to wait. Blake previously opened up about his own faith to Taste of Country. He revealed that his relationship with Gwen has deepened his personal relationship with God. She even encouraged him to regularly attend church after they started dating.

“I believe in God now more than I ever have in my life,” said Blake. “The biggest part of that is just how [Stefani] came into my life and now our relationship. It’s just too weird. If you take God out of it, it doesn’t make sense. If you put God into it, everything that’s happened with us makes sense.”
Despite their inability to get married, the Voice coaches are still positive that they found “the one” in each other. They’re “very serious” about their relationship regardless of the Church’s views, according to the insider. They can see themselves walking down the aisle one day.
The couple wants to ‘make sure they have God on their side’ before marrying
Back in March, Us Weekly reported that the couple’s wedding plans were on hold. They want to ensure that God is on their side before they take the next step. While Gwen has since started “the formal process” to have her marriage to her ex-husband annulled by the Catholic church, it’s taking some time. But they know that it’ll happen on God’s time.
While the 49-year-old singer and her 42-year-old boyfriend are ready to get married, “there are obstacles they have to deal with first,” an insider told the magazine. Their living arrangement is one of those issues. Blake splits his time between his Los Angeles and Oklahoma homes, while Gwen lives in L.A. with her three sons, Kingston, 12, Zuma, 10, and Apollo, 4.

The couple are reportedly been taking their relationship slow. Even though their respective divorces happened around the same time, they wanted to make sure they didn’t rush things. Since they both experienced the same thing, they often leaned on each other.
“It actually brought them closer together,” an insider told ET. “Blake loves Gwen and had always wanted children, so her boys have been one of the biggest gifts in his life. He raves about them all the time.”
Timing has always been an important factor in their relationship. It’s just as important when it comes to taking the next step. This could mean that The Voice judges Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton just want to take their time with everything. This couple is obviously more traditional than most Hollywood couples.
