‘Welcome To Plathville’: Olivia Plath Worries About ‘Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms’

News, Reality TV, TLC Shows

Welcome To Plathville‘s well into its six-episode run from TLC. The controversial series features the very restrictive and religiously conservative Plath family. Olivia Plath, Ethan’s wife, clashes with her in-laws and started opening up the reality of their lifestyle. Now, finding it hard to deal with, she admits she worries about developing “unhealthy coping mechanisms.”

Welcome To Plathville – Olivia struggles with conflict in the Plath family

Since the show started airing, Olivia’s been the most outspoken person about the reality of life on the Georgia farm. The most damning suggestions came during her recent chat with YouTube’s Without A Crystal Ball channel. TV Shows Ace reported that she alleges the mom of the 9-kid brood, Kim’s just in the show for fame. Plus, their eldest son, Olivia’s husband Ethan felt estranged from Kim before she came along. Actually, Olivia feels the kids should do things like drink soda and have access to the real world. But she said that parents Kim and Barry actually think she’s “possessed” by demons.

It can’t be easy for her being unwanted and unwelcome. In a previous report, we noted that she felt terrible over the conflict. She shared on her Instagram that she felt saddened that her parents-in-law couldn’t love her. Also, we know that she came from a very conservative religious family. Making a break for the real world took a lot of courage. And, still struggling with all the conflict’s proving very difficult for the Welcome To Plathville star.

‘Unhealthy coping mechanisms’ worry Olivia

Cheatsheet reminds us that “Olivia drinks alcohol, enjoys sugar and is seemingly helping two of the young Plath kids break-free from their technology-deficient lifestyle.” But those efforts at emancipation trouble Olivia. On Tuesday night, Olivia took to her Instagram to talk about the Welcome to Plathville show and her struggles. In her long post, she explained how she worries about developing “unhealthy coping mechanisms.” Her post read, “To tell all the copacetic and pleasant parts of one’s story, without mentioning the negative and unflattering pieces is almost like telling a lie.”

Then she went on to talk about something else. She noted, “I just wanted to be honest with y’all and say that today sucked. Just because someone is on a platform, or looks like they have their ducks in a row doesn’t mean that they don’t struggle just like everyone else.” Then she told her fans, “I’ve been realizing over the last few months that I’ve developed some unhealthy coping mechanisms this past year, and in the process of trying to protect my heart and draw my boundary lines, I’ve become harder as a person.”

Being a harder person concerns Ethan’s wife

Well, most people know that constant criticism can cause a hardened attitude. But, Olivia’s hoping to do something about it. She added, “I don’t even know exactly what that means except I’m not as soft, and unguarded as I used to be. I had a good cry over it tonight, and then I had to pull up my big girl pants. I want to find the middle ground where I can stand up for my beliefs respectfully, and own who I am gracefully. I’m not there yet, but I can’t let that define my worth.”

The Welcome To Plathville wife obviously gave it all a lot of thought. Additionally, she explored the subject a bit more. The post continued. She added, “Life is a juggling act, isn’t it?! One pin stays up and you start breathing a sigh of relief, only to notice that the other already fell to the ground 😂.” Next, she reminded her fans and friends that she’s “right there alongside y’all, learning and growing just like everyone else. Tomorrow is a new day, so give yourself some grace – you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing.”

Real, raw moment over here 🙍🏼‍♀️ To tell all the copacetic and pleasant parts of ones story, without mentioning the negative and unflattering pieces is almost like telling a lie. To be fair, there is something to be said about sharing *too* much of your story and being unreserved to a fault. But that’s not what I’m here to talk about 🙃 I just wanted to be honest with y’all and say that today sucked. Just because someone is on a platform, or looks like they have their ducks in a row doesn’t mean that they don’t struggle just like everyone else. I’ve been realizing over the last few months that I’ve developed some unhealthy coping mechanisms this past year, and in the process of trying to protect my heart and draw my boundary lines, I’ve become harder as a person. I don’t even know exactly what that means except I’m not as soft, and unguarded as I used to be. I had a good cry over it tonight, and then I had to pull up my big girl pants. I want to find the middle ground where I can stand up for my beliefs respectfully, and own who I am gracefully. I’m not there yet, but I can’t let that define my worth. Life is a juggling act, isn’t it?! One pin stays up and you start breathing a sigh of relief, only to notice that the other already fell to the ground 😂 Just wanted to remind you that I’m right there alongside y’all, learning and growing just like everyone else. Tomorrow is a new day, so give yourself some grace – you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing 😘♥️
