‘BIP’ Demi Burnett Speaks Out After Kristian Haggerty Break-Up, Kristian Defends Demi
After tons of speculation that Bachelor in Paradise couple Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty were having troubles, the two finally announced their split. The announcement came after Kristian and her sister posted cryptic messages on Instagram. Now Demi is speaking up amidst the swirling talk of her break-up.
Demi sends out message to fans
Any relationship ending is hard. A relationship ending for the world to see is even harder. After the announcement of their split, Demi sent out a tweet to fans. She said, “I’m not okay today and I’m going to take a break from social. Thank you to everyone who is reaching out xx.”
Many fans tweeted words of support, while others were not so kind. Kristian actually commented on the tweet addressing the haters. She said, “Everyone has a right to their own opinion but it doesn’t give anyone the right to be mean. If you don’t have anything nice to say please refrain from commenting. We are two people who still care immensely about one another and are trying heal. Thank you for understanding.”

What ended the relationship?
Cosmopolitan reported that a big factor in Demi and Kristian’s decision to end their engagement was distance. The two started spending less and less time together after the Bachelor in Paradise finale aired. The two were reportedly supposed to move in together in Los Angeles, but that never happened. Currently the ex-couple lives in New York and Florida.
Break-up rumors had been swirling the couple for over a month. Demi was very defensive about their love when the rumors started. She basically said her relationship with Kristian was nobody’s business.
A source close to the couple said, “They really haven’t spent much time together in the same place since getting back from Paradise, and it made them rethink the whole situation. They grew apart, and once they came down from the post-vacation high, they realized they were rushing their relationship.”

Demi and Kristian were the Bachelor franchise’s first same sex couple. Fans were hoping the two could make things work, but it turns out distance was just too hard.
Demi admitted during this season of Bachelor in Paradise that she had been dating Kristian before joining the cast. Host Chris Harrison flew Kristian out and the two continued to date. They got engaged on the finale and appeared very much in love.
