Jill Dillard Serenades Derick With Harp Music While He Studies – Will That Help Him Learn?
Jill Dillard goes to many extra lengths to be a good wife to her husband, Derick. And, it looks like he really appreciates her efforts. In fact, he shared on his Instagram that she even serenades him with beautiful music on her harp while he studies. But, will music help him to actually learn?

On his Instagram, Dereck shared a video clip of Jill playing the harp. He said in the caption, “un family time during law school fall break – I get to be serenaded with beautiful harp music from Jill while I study! 😃 🎼 🎶.” Jill replied, saying, “@derickdillard love you! 💞” Well, listening to music, it’s really relaxing and beautiful, and Jill’s talented. She even managed to keep on going when the kids got a bit too interested in it. Mind you, their singing on and off in the background never really added to the “relaxed” ambiance.
The home looks full of fun this weekend, and one wonders how Derick managed to study at all with two active little boys. Nevertheless, he appreciated Jill’s efforts on the instrument. Fans reacted to the post and one of them said, “I had no idea she played the harp!” Actually, these days harp players seldom get seen outside of formal orchestras. But Jill played the harp for him in the past. Derick replied to the fan, noting, “She would record her harp playing and send it to me while I was overseas :)”

Will Jill’s music help Derick to study?
According to Study.com, Music brings “both positive and negative effects on studying, depending on the student and the type of music.” In fact, the sound of music playing might impact on the retention of reading matter. But, it could actually “improve focus on a task by providing motivation and improving mood.” Maybe the individual listening requires their own type of music when it comes to studying. The website also explains that “In some cases, students have found that music helps them with memorization, likely by creating a positive mood, which indirectly boosts memory formation.”
The drawback to that is that sometimes the student needs the same music to recall what they learned. And, it’s not likely to happen inside an examination hall. Like Derik, music without lyrics seem the best option. It looks like the lyrics could actually draw a student away from their concentration. So, quiet and beautiful music like Jill Dillard plays on her harp could be just the ticket – minus the boys’ singing along, of course.
