‘NCIS’ Season 17 Finds Ziva David Changed, But How?
Ziva David is back on September 24 and NCIS fans are now going crazy with anticipation. Just a few days ago, Cote de Pablo and Mark Harmon revealed how it was to work together and how fans may be surprised to find that Ziva is changed person. What did they say?

NCIS Fans Will Find Ziva ‘Changed’
NCIS fans who have been waiting many years for the return of Ziva David my be surprised. According to an interview with Cote de Pablo and Mark Harmon, by TV Guide and reported by TV Insider, we won’t see the same Ziva. It’s been six years. She faked her death and left Talia, in order to protect her child. She is used to working alone, not with others, as she did with her former team. Ziva has been a lone wolf for a while, and fans will surely see the difference. She is a changed woman.
Ziva Protects Gibbs
NCIS Season 16 ended with Ziva telling Gibbs that his life is in danger. Is this true? “The threat is real,” assures Mark Harmon. Cote de Pablo explains that Ziva would not jeopardize her family and everyone at NCIS if this threat by Sahar (Mouzam Makkar) was not imminent.
Cote de Pablo further explains that Ziva feels “responsible” to protect and save Gibbs. She looks at Gibbs as her father figure. She was unable to save her father Eli David (Michael Nouri) and understandably, wants to prevent anything from happening to him.
Most of all, Pablo de Cote explains, “She’s also trying to keep her daughter a secret and safe from the people who are trying to get to Gibbs and to her.” This is surely going to be a delicate balance. But it doesn’t mean that Ziva lets Gibbs call the shots. She is in charge here and that will be a different experience for Gibbs!
How Many NCIS Episodes Will Include Ziva?
Ziva David will be in four episodes of NCIS Season 17. The first two episodes will feature Ziva. The other two episodes will continue later in the season. Even though Ziva will not be a regular this season, her story is the big storyline for the new season. This could include how her old friends react to this unexpected news. This could also affect how the post-Ziva team members, Bishop (Emily Wickersham) and Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), deal with the information that Ziva will share.
This could also change Bishop as an agent. Back in the episode “She,” Bishop shared that she wished that she could have learned from Ziva. Will Ziva have enough time to turn Bishop into a superhero agent like herself? Ellie may need some of these Ziva skills in order to deal with the threats on Gibbs.
More than likely, the threat on Gibbs is just the tip of the iceberg. This team could be tested in all sorts of new and exciting ways. The NCIS writers created a storyline after they approached Cote about coming back. She would not return unless the story was remarkable. This story could have the ability to really ramp up the excitement on a show that is nearly two decades old.
