The Financial Scandal & Alleged Innocence
The current financial scandal and potential jail time may be why Todd and Julie Chrisley are feeling the squeeze for cash.
It was on Monday that Todd broke the news of the scandal. He took to social media to reveal he and his wife would be part of an upcoming investigation. A federal indictment for tax evasion. Chrisley, however, insisted he and his wife were innocent.
According to Todd, a “trusted employee” who is no longer with them is to blame. Todd claims the individual gave “phony documents” to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
“I’ve never talked about this publicly before, but there’s been a cloud hanging over Julie and me and our entire family for the past seven years. It all started back in 2012, when we discovered that a trusted employee of ours had been stealing from us big time.” Todd revealed as he gave some background on the situation.

Todd Chrisley insists the financial scandal is nothing more than an act of revenge. Revenge by an angry former employee.
“To get revenge, he took a bunch of his phony documents to the U.S. Attorney’s office and told them we had committed all kinds of financial crimes, like tax evasion and bank fraud. That got their attention all right, but once we had a chance to explain who he was and what he’d done to us, they realized it was all a bunch of nonsense and they sent him on his way.” Todd continued to explain.
Chrisley added that he shared this information because he had “nothing to hide.” He also claimed he had “hard evidence” supporting that he and his wife have done nothing wrong.
Why The Need For Cash?
Listing the Tennessee mansion amid the scandal while insisting innocence has many puzzled. What could they need the cash for? Why are they selling a home they just purchased?
