Austin Forsyth and Joy-Anna Duggar recently shared that they lost their baby 20 weeks into Joy’s pregnancy. They posted about the loss on Instagram a week after finding out the news. On Instagram, they posted a photo and explained what happened.

In the post, they wrote, “Today marks one week since we heard these words…’So this is your baby’s heart (pointing to the ultrasound screen). I don’t hear a heartbeat or see any movement.’ We had gone in for our 20-week ultrasound and gender reveal. It was a baby girl.” Lauren, Kendra, and Anna are all expecting baby girls in November, which is when Joy was due.

Today marks one week since we heard these words… . “So this is your baby’s heart (pointing to the ultrasound screen). I don’t hear a heartbeat or see any movement.” . We had gone in for our 20-week ultrasound and gender reveal. It was a baby girl. Although we don’t understand why, God has given us unexplainable peace and comfort during this very difficult time. Yes, it still hurts and we have cried countless tears, but we know that we can trust the Lord. In the words of King David after the loss of his baby, “I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me” (2 Sam 12:23). We don’t grieve as those who have no hope because we trust that we will see this little one again. We named her Annabell Elise. Annabell means “God has favored me”, and Elise means “God satisfies”. What a precious thing to know that when our daughter opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the face of Jesus. Please pray for continued healing, not only physically but for our hearts as well. . “All the way my Savior leads me; What have I to ask beside? Can I doubt His tender mercy, Who through life has been my Guide? Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort, Here by faith in Him to dwell! For I know, whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well, For I know, whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well.” -Fanny Crosby

Since the couple revealed the news, fans, friends, and family members have been leaving encouraging messages for Joy and Austin. In addition, Anna Duggar shared about losing her second child during pregnancy.

Most of the Duggar siblings have shared the news on their own Instagram pages. They are also writing sweet messages for Joy and Austin to read as they go through this tough time.

Late last year, Josiah and Lauren had a miscarriage. They opened up about it on social media a couple of months after it happened. They explained why they opened up and wrote, “I know by y’all sharing your stories it has not only helped me, but many other women who have gone through the same trials.” They wanted to make others feel less alone.

It makes sense why Lauren and Josiah would dedicate a special message to Joy and Austin. It’s likely that Lauren and Joy will be able to connect and help each other through these hard times they have both experienced.

This has been a difficult year for the Duggar family. Just last month, Grandma Mary Duggar passed away unexpectedly. Now, Joy and Austin are grieving the loss of their second child. Hopefully, Joy and Austin will be able to add to their family when they are ready if they choose to do so.

Counting On is expected to air this fall on TLC. A specific date has yet to be announced.
